Day 8 of 21 – Juicing Challenge – Morning Zing

Refreshed. That is how I started my morning. Taking in a deep breath and stretching my arms to the sky, I was more than happy to start my day. To be here on Earth just made me smile. I came down the stairs then I heard, “Mama!” and an opening door. This followed by another smaller voice. It looked like I wasn’t about to get my peaceful few minutes in prior to jumping into mama role but it was okay with me. I brought them down to start breakfast and try juggling the time to make myself some fresh juice and muesli.

Here’s the truth about juicing. It does take time. You have to prep your ingredients: peel and clean, cut off any ends. And while it is not difficult to do, it’s time consuming with two kids pulling at your shirt to feed them. Juggling waiting for oatmeal to cool, prepping the vegetables, making a glass, trying to take a picture of somewhat decent quality quickly and then cleaning the juicer — it takes me about 45 minutes. The other thing I want to point out is that if you don’t clean the juicer quickly it stains even more quicker! So back to my what was a nice morning turning into chaos and my children becoming monsters from being deprived of food…I somehow managed to finish my juice.

I’m glad I made it through and I stuck with my juicing. Normally, I would put me behind and take care of the children first. I sometimes even skip breakfast because I’m getting dressed while they are eating. Fitting in time for me is far and few. My children are three and two. They want to be independent but obviously still need me for pretty much everything. Sometimes breakfast is the last thing on my mind. I usually keep the mind frame to keep on going.

But since I have made this promise to myself, to turn over a new leaf, to make a new, to make a better healthier me, I am my biggest cheerleader. I started doing this challenge because I find myself needing more….more sleep, more food, more energy. I’m basically letting myself crash and for what? To make sure the laundry gets in the wash? To constantly pick up toys left behind? Or how about the dishes three times a day? I’m wearing down and I don’t want to be like that anymore. Bringing this change into my life has made me realize how much I love myself. I want to give myself a good start every morning because I deserve it. My body deserves it. My spirit and mind needs it. Our minds can travel constantly at a fast speed but if our bodies aren’t keeping up, what good are we? I’m taking the time to slow down and enjoy my mornings again. Juicing and eating is a great start.

So, what is to this 21-Day Juice Challenge? It’s simple. If you want to participate, you can do so by either juicing every day or when you want! There’s no set time or what should be in your juice! It’s entirely up to you. I simply want to empower you to do something good for yourself. Some people don’t have enough time to eat 5-10 servings of fruit and vegetables a day – some people don’t eat any – this is a fast way to be sure that you are receiving great benefits of juicing! As I have mentioned, you will receive lots of nutrients, vitamins and more.

You may ask why 21 days. Studies have shows that it takes 21 days to create a habit, which means something you do daily. I want this to be a healthier part of our lives together. If you feel compelled, please join me in this journey and we can juice together! What is your favorite juice?
