The Blogger Spotlight: The Pierogie Mama

Mama’s always have  a soft place in my heart. Perhaps it’s because I’m a mama and know the challenges and good times that come along with such an important role.

Let me introduce you to Bianca, The Pierogie Mama, who has my heart as well. Maybe it’s because her and I share a love for our pierogies.

The Pierogie Mama

She has one little Pierogie, named Penelope and please congratulate her…for Pierogie #2 is on her way in March!

Bianca writes about natural and attachment parenting, cloth diapering, organic and nutritional meals and shares a bunch of tidbits of her family life.

Confused if I’m referring to pierogies as food or children? Me too. So let’s ask Bianca to see what pierogies are all about:

MBB: Why you started blogging?

Bianca: I started blogging right around 2 years ago, actually. I was about a month away from having our first baby, Penelope, and wanted to have something that I could chronicle my stay at home mama life. I had previously kept a renovation blog and it felt natural to start a new blog with a new life stage. I called it “The Pierogie Mama” because we called our baby “Pierogie” before finding out her gender. What is a pierogie, you might ask? It’s a Polish dumpling, filled with almost anything you can imagine. I’m Polish by heritage and pierogies are my favorite food, and somehow that’s what we ended up calling our pre 20 week babies! The blog started out as updates shared with friends and family and it quickly grew to friends of friends and people asking questions and building community, and here I am 2 years later with this wonderful “tribe” that I can reach out to for support and also provide support to.

MBB: What is your motivation?
Bianca: At first my motivation was to have something written down for me to look back upon when Penny is older and have access to my raw thoughts and feelings, or tiny memories that would fade with time. As my writing talent and niche grew, I was motivated by my desire to research ways to save money as a stay at home mom but also keep a healthy lifestyle by not cutting corners on what we eat, instead finding ways to cut out a lot of the disposable products that we use and switch to reusable ones (cloth diapers being one of them). I wanted to share my findings with other moms because I was so excited by what I was learning and found other moms who were interested in the same things I was.
MBB: What do you want your readers to know?
Bianca: That I’m totally approachable! I am not a perfect mom, or someone who’s home would ever be featured on Pinterest for its immaculate tidyness. Won’t find that around here! I’m too busy chasing my daughter around, growing a second baby, renovating the house with my husband and just trying to fit all of our wants in with our needs.
MBB: What inspires you?
Bianca: So many different things! Hanging out with my daughter all day gives me ideas on what I would like to write about (be it something special that happened in our day or an idea that sparks me wanting to learn more about something).
Here are some of my favorite posts from The Pierogie Mama:
