Here in Maryland, we are still having a bit of a cold front. My hubby asks, “When is this going to be over?” I politely remind him, it is winter.
Let me not confuse you. I love the snow but I don’t like to play in the snow. People love to ski, I love to sit at the lodge and have a warm drink. I think it’s pretty, but I don’t want to be in it.
And to be honest, we haven’t even been outside in three days. More of a hibernating mode you could say. When you have no place to go, a warm house and a kitchen full of goodies, why leave?
But then something strange happened. I just couldn’t take the indoors anymore. I think I was going to snap if I didn’t breathe in some nature. I somehow missed it and actually craved it.
How did I spend my thirty minutes of workout time? OUTSIDE baby!
It was the best thirty minutes ever. I watched the birds weave in and out through the trees, listened to the silence that surrounded me and had the sun beaming on my face. Although cold, it was also very beautiful.
I felt wonderful after the run. And just in case you were wondering, it was 25 degrees.
When I walked through the door, hubby surprised me with some homemade pineapple grapefruit juice. It was delicious. MUST SHARE.
Yes, my hubby loves to juice. He sometimes even gives me new recipes.
This is a great morning booster, Grapefruit Pineapple Juice.
- 2 grapefruits, peeled
- 14 oz pineapple
Juice together and enjoy!
*NOTE: I try to be as organic and whole as I can. We didn’t have a pineapple on hand, so I used canned.*
Beside being a great winter fruit, grapefruit has lots of beneficial properties.
- Help treat common cold and boost liver function due to a dietary fiber called pectin.
- Promotes digestion
- Has low calories
- Help lower cholesterol levels
- Booming with vitamin C, supports cardiovascular health
WARNING: If you take certain medicines, grapefruit can actually cause side-effects. Talk to your doctor. I am not a doctor. 😉
