T is for Thankgiving Turkey

With Thanksgiving around the corner, I’m starting to get all my turkeys lined up in a row.

We started this week with the letter T and discussed the sound, how to trace our fingers over the letter and what words start with T.  This discussion lead us into the topic of Thanksgiving.

I then showed them this letter recognition craft to help them learn how to draw the letter T. (For Miss 2, just a practice for Mr 4).

T 1

You can use any letter. We obviously choose T for Thanksgiving however this project works fantastic with any letter of the week.

First draw the letter on construction paper, then give your little one glue, stickers, pipe cleaners, string, buttons etc. to outline the letter.

T 2

When they are finished, they have created that letter! Easy and simple project with learning fun!

Next, it was time to make our Thanksgiving turkeys…

Using foam sheets, googly eyes and glue, we had the materials to make our turkeys.

T 4

I simply cut out a body, and smaller pieces for the feathers, then they made their own turkey creations!

T 5

It always amazes me to see how a child interprets their own artwork.

T 6

Let their imagination show them the way. And yes, that is a turkey. 🙂

What Thanksgiving crafts are you doing?
